Anyone near Chatham?

Tank isn’t doing well and I am looking for a person to potentially babysit some montis, acros, acans for a few months while I try and fix the issue. Might need to “blow up” the entire system and start over again…. Post pics of your tank if possible, frags of each as payment. Thanks.

Hey, im in union 07083. Depending the size of your corals, i may be able to hold them on my 120 gal. I also have a 10 gal running as a holding tank. Non-sps can go there.

You can also borrow a non-RR 55 gal tank until you sort out the issues in your tank.

Lmk if im able to help you out.

What size is your tank?

Thank you for your responses. 65g with 20g sump, small corals (reef octo skimmer, reefangel controller, two jebo wp 40s connected to the controller, BRS dual media reactor, filter guys 3 stage RO, BB with rocks on eggcrate). I think the issue is my lights. Had an amazing tank that was doing really well with 8 65w pcs before I started buying acros, got acros, had MH for a few months over the tank and the newly acquired acros grew 10x, switched to a Radion G2 because the tank was getting too hot...ever since the tank has been like a wasteland, coralline died, bleached corals, weird white algae type film over the rocks, nothing grows not even the “easy” corals...i have gone from higher light to lower light over the course of 8 months (slowly) and nothing seems to work (read every post available with Radion graph recommendations, duration, height, ect.)...my true plan is to find a 4 lamp t5 powermodule, build a hood and use the LEDs for "effect" for when my friends come over. The only reason I haven’t is because I am not an electrician and don’t want to burn my apartment down or electrocute myself….I dunno, frustrating to say the least as probably about $1k of coral has died since changing the lights...lack of time hasn’t helped either since my new job commands 70 hour weeks.

anyone an electrician out there? Priced out from ReefGeeks i can get everything but the wiring harness a for 4 39w T5 set up for about $300...can easily make a hood and run the Radion and T5s through the reef angel, just need to wire it. Not confident in my own ability to do that.

do you have pics of the tank now? was the LED light the only change before this started happening? you did start the LED's intensity low and slowly ramped it up, right? also what are the water parameters now? RODI water is close to 0 TDS?

just crossing out the usual suspects...

If everything turned white that means there was too much light, too fast.

LEDs are strong, but do not appear as "bright" as T-5's or MH's, but the PAR is there, even at our perceived lower brightness. LEDs especially with lenses are like little laser beams. You have to start them low, like reaaaaaaally low. Almost to the point where the corals start browning out, and increase intensity over a couple weeks (months).

From my experience, a coral can bleach or brown in less than a week. It can take weeks to months to color up from browning. And it can be months, to almost a year in some cases, to recover from a bleaching event.

Yep I agree with Bian...I had a monti on the lower third of my tank that went really ugly an then after 2 months it came back.
I thought I was safe but pretty easy to do.

is it possible you started with high intensity then slowly lowered it? if yes, that could have caused the bleaching like Fish Brain mentioned.
