Apex PM1

So merry Christmas everyone. Santa brought me a PM1 so that I may start monitoring my pH. He did not however bring me a probe to go with it. I see that there is three different grades of probes available. Is there a preferred grade I should be shooting for? Also when I do purchase it does it come with the calibration fluid or do I need to purchase the different ones separately? Thanks in advance.

John I can get you some calibration buffer (4.00, 7.00 and 10.00) I might also have a lab grade pH pobe but I have to look for it but the buffers i can get you some for sure.

Awesome let me know. I'm guessing that the probes are reusable then. I read that they must remain wet or something like that. I always wonder why when people sell them some of the questions are whether they are wet. I really don't know much about them. So any added help is appreciated.

You won't need the 4.00. You need the two cal-fluids that "capture" the range you are interested in, so only get the 7.00 and 10.00. Hope that makes sense.

They have to remain wet or the contacts dry out and become bad, at least that is my understanding. Calibrating is pretty straight forward but can take several minutes to do, patience is required.

Moved everything looking for the probe and didn't find it, then as Paul said I'll get you the 7.00 and 10.00 buffer.

I think the only difference is the longevity and the response time. The pH isn't going to swing much in your tank so response time doesn't really matter much. It then just really boils down to whether you want to spend some more money up front for a probe that is supposed to last longer. I haven't been able to find any solid answers on how much longer the lab grade probes last and have just went with the regular ones.
