Aptasia eating filefish

If you don’t mind ordering online, I recommend checking out Biota. I got my filefish from them to ensure I was getting the correct species—not something that looks similar but doesn’t touch aiptasia.

Be prepared, though—the fish will arrive tiny. I kept mine in a separate breeder box for nearly two months to let it grow enough to safely handle the flow from the powerheads. While it was in the box, I tossed in some rocks with aiptasia, and it went straight for them every time.
I may have to go this route. It's funny how when I don't need one they're everywhere now I need one and they're nowhere

An Aiptasia eating filefish is considered "reef safe with caution"; while they primarily eat Aiptasia, some individuals may occasionally nip at soft corals, zoanthids, or other fleshy polyps, so close monitoring is necessary when adding them to a reef tank.

I called yesterday to nyaquatics and they have copperband at 75 coming today. I’m picking up one for me as soon as I can. I’m also getting a blue cromis out probably tonight if anyone wants it. Very aggressive though

The filefish will eat the aip. The sometimes start to pick at corals so I normal bounce them around.. they are so easy to catch.. tank overflows fuge.. copperbands will take time to eat the aip and most often perish since it’s a relatively hard butterfly to keep..

I was actually in a similar boat but reverse lol, they were out of stock at Biota but was able to find them everywhere locally when i was looking. I was adamant with going with Biota though since i wanted to make sure it was the correct species and i also did not want to QT as Biota has a reputation for keeping clean specimens. I was willing to take that risk with them.

Luckily I don't have any corals yet, just some leathers. Trying to get everything settled before I start adding
