Aptasia help

I have seen a few small transparent ones just starting to pop out of some of my marco rock, I assume the aptasia came in on either macro or some biobricks I had cultured. In my other tank something just have been in there eatting. So far I have only seen two which I epoxied shut and will wait till they find new ways out. I also have a decent sized melenarus and worst case I will get about 10 peppermints to throw in at night and hope one is wise enough to only hunt at night.
I didn't know that Mellanurus eat aiptasia- mine is pretty good with algae though

Nah he won’t, but he will look at peppermint shrimp as a nice snack so my best case is dump a lot on one night and hope he doesn’t mind them.

I spent the money on nudis when this happened to me and they didn't make a dent. Added 5 peppermint shrimp and medium size file fish. Nothing at first - then in about a 3 day span they were all gone.

Kalk paste via baby medicine syringe for the ones you can reach, Copperband, file fish for the ones you can't, relax.

Aptasia is unavoidable. Not only that, but matt had told me TSM runs their coral systems with no fish because their customers insisted on it. customers were scared of fish pathogens.

Reviving this thread bc I still have a severe outbreak of aptasia. I try to regularly get them all with Aptasia X which works for a few days and then it seems like they double.

I had a peppermint shrimp in my sump that ate all the Aptasia in the sump. I moved it to the display. I've seen it like once so it's either hiding or the wrasses got to it.
I use kalk paste

are you just covering them with the paste? or targeting the mouth?

i've been trying to pierce and inject with e hypodermic needle and a concentrated kalk solution, with some success, i think. its tricky to tell if i have pierced them though, as they shrink up on contact with the needle and then i might just be going all the way through and out the other side.

Targeting the mouth and covering them with paste. So, both. Though what you're doing may work, it seems very difficult.
