Aquafx Booster Pump problem

Hi all, I have a 5 stages 100gpd aquafx barracuda system (2 di filters) with brand new filters. I just purchased a booster pump and a ro membrane flush kit thru marinedepot. I installed both according to the youtube video from aquafx and have the water at around 75psi. I noticed the output waste water from the ro membrane has drastic increased while my "good" production water stay the same if not gotten even worse than before installing the pump. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Kelvin

When you mean good production water, do you mean the GPD? It should stay the same. If it were to increase, it wouldn't be significant. My 75gpd rodi probably produced 78gpd after the installation of a booster pump.

I am guessing you need to turn the flush valve off.

Sorry I forgot to mention, without the pump, my ro membrane psi was at 40. After I installed the pump, it was at 100psi. From the youtube video, he said not to exceed 80psi. As mentioned in the video, I opened the ball valve to the flush kit to lower the psi down to 75psi. Prior to installing the booster pump, it takes me about 2 hours to make 5 gallons of ro/di water, which is not 100gpd. After I installed the pump, the production of ro/di has slightly decreased while the waste water from the ro has drastic increase.

Something is definitely wrong. Is it possible that you installed it incorrectly?

Here is one thing I'm confused about. The flush kit I purchased from marine depot came with it own restrictor but the website said nothing about what size is it. But I used my existing one. That is the only thing i think of that could be wrong.

I'm not sure what pump you have, but I have the Aquatec 8800 where you can adjust the pressure from an allen screw on the top of the pump. Opening the flush valve just doesn't sound right.

I'm scratching my head on this one. I was always under the impression that the restrictor was matched to the gph membrane you have. My guess is that they sent you a restictor that is adjustable by snipping off some of its length. I think you did the right thing using the one already dialed in to your membrane.

At this point, I'd send an email to AquaFX and ask them what's going on.

I have their Octopus model and they are extremely responsive to questions. I am sure they will get you headed in the right direction.
