AquaLifter for ATO Causing Siphon (Pics) - Help o.O

Maybe its just me.

Last night I setup my JBJ ATO on Mode A. I Superglued my Float switch onto a Mag Floatbecause I don't trust the Brackets and installed it. I set my water level and tested the switch twice. I tucked the end of the Airline tubing into a Sponge and Went to bed at (1am). I also placed like 2 LeakFrogs around the sump heh. This Morning I went and it seemed as if the float switch has failed and was about to cause a over flow. I looked at the end of the airline tubing and it was putting out water seemingly from the pump but the pump was not on. Here is a Diagram of my setup.

The AquaLifter Sits on top of the Blue drum. Airline Tubing drops directly into the drum to the bottom. The Output is run behind the stand and into the sump.

How do I stop the Siphon becasue I think thats what happened.

Rise the tubing going to the sump above the water level in the holding tank.I use a 12" piece of pvc and stick the air line tube into that just an inch or two.That way there is a brake the the line.

You mean make the water pump UP before pumping down?

Curt is correct. The line going to the sump from the aqualifter needs to be above the drum. If not, put the line in the overflow box or tank, but not submerged in the water.

You don't need it to go up.You just need an air break so it doesn't start a siphon.You can do what ricwilli said or put a piece of tubing(1/2" or larger) in the sump and run it high enough so it's as high as the water in the holding tank then put the air line tubing from the pump into that an inch or so.

I used a T at the end of the tubing above the water line so that it doesn't slip out of the hole that it comes through and I have not had problems.
