Aquamedic Nanowave 9 Tank Journal

Hey everyone, its been quite a while since the 55g breakdown and I haven't ever posted pics of my 9g. Yesterday at the meeting I loaded up on frags, and have got them in after a new aquascaping job. The corals may not look too happy as they were taken this morning right after the lights came on. I know not many people have this all in one so the tank is a bit unique I suppose. The skimmer works great, and pulls about a collection cup a day. As its been going the skimmate has been getting darker and darker. The back fuge light cover fell off two months ago so I have to contact them to replace it. Otherwise after adding a hydor nano PH Im satisfied with the tank overall.

What made you decide to do a bare bottom?
Last time the tank was set up (with an anemone and the clowns) I had a fine grain sand that drove me nuts. The Algea would not go away, ever. Hair algea was an uphill battle that all the phosban in the world wasnt winning, so when I took it down and hit the whole thing with vinegar I went without the sand. It seems to have worked out okay, but Ive been thinking about adding a real shallow one.

I think you should just leave it bare bottom putting sand in would be such a PIA

Looks great, Justin. I thought some of those coral looked familiar! I'm glad to see everyone is settling in well. It was good seeing you on Saturday and nice to see you back around here. Keep the updates coming.

I haven't seen a Nanowave 9 in a few years and now I know of 2 recently set up tanks.

Wings first and foremost. Out of the East I like the Devils, but I'm more of a fan of players. With the notable exception of the Leafs and Rangers.

Very nice set up.. My boyfriend is thinking about setting up a smaller tank, compared to his 120g tank, for our three month old. He loves to watch the fish.. I'm thinking about just doing clown fish, as you did.

O wow aquamedic. I always thought they only made lights, I never knew they made nano-tanks. Guess this is what college does to you haha

How much did that cost you? Is it cheaper than other AIO systems like nano-cude etc.?
