How's this for creepy - today for Father's Day, my daughter and son-in-law gave me a present - a gift card from ACC. I asked them when they bought it and they said this week. I asked if he happened to mention that the store was closing as of today and they said he had not. I'm going to call tomorrow and demand the money back or tell my daughter to dispute the charge with her credit card company and I will file a complaint with the BBB. Unbelievable how scummy some people can be.

E, That doesn't surprise me in the least. I stopped shopping there years back. Once picked up a beauty of a fairy wrasse that seemed super lethargic and I was going to pass on. John assured me it was fine. 72 hours after getting home it was dead. Of course the problems were 'most likely' with my acclimation, plus it was out of the warranty as well. There were a few other questionable practices that some others here have alluded to. When they screwed over one of our members on a Red Sea tank, that's when I realized that they weren't worth my time.
Shame, they could have been an astounding store that could be the premier shop in NJ, but they seemed to take profit and quick sales over customer service and quality. So, yeah, this is sorta expected at this point. Hopefully you'll get the money back.

Paul, glad you got your credit! I'm actually surprised.

What a FN scumbag John has turned into. Definitely complian to the BBB. Hope the credit card company does the right thing.

I too am surprised Paul got his credit.

John can say what he wants but he put himself out of business.

Follow up: I left a message for John and he apologized - he said they tried to turn that feature off as soon as he decided to close the store. Bottom line - he did refund the money and assured me there was no funny business intended.

I didn't shop there much since their fish stocking was never good after they changed stores. but they always had good corals.

Fully agree and agree with Mark, nicely stated. I believe both Mike and Kaleey will be fine. Mike appeared to be involved in the transfer back to servicing only and Kaleey is the owner's kid. So we've gone from three places in Ocean to none! Tropaquaium, Greg's place (something like Reefs and Reptiles) and now ACC.

I know I'm a bit late on this, I didn't even know they closed. I was gonna take a ride up there.. sad to see the place go.. I was there with Greg before reef to reptiles fell apart. I used to go help him on the weekends for some choice frags or fish. I always wondered what happened to him. John at acc was a business man, not a hobbiest. He did want he could to make money, and I'm sure he'll wind up running another business somewhere. Or maybe continue with the installs and maintenance which was the original business when he took over Greg's shop. Which he got for a steal. All that equipment and tanks for next to nothing. Anyway, like stated above now there's nothing left. Trop rtr and now acc
.. anybody know where to get LRS food now??
