Aquatic Obsessions FTW!

I was in AO yesterday to buy a fish.

Lately, I've been poking around the stores, looking to see what I could put in my tank, but I'd been deeply dissapointed by the state of the stores in NJ, and also by the low level of customer service I'd been getting.

But yesterday, I made it into AO right after they opened.

I was greeted at the door by a dog with a rope toy.

They had the fish I wanted.

Will took the time to actually talk to me.

He fed the fish the same food I actually feed, to see if it'd eat it.

He told me how long he had the fish and why he picked that particular one from whatever distributor.

Basically, Aquatic Obsessions is setting the bar pretty high.

i went in there my first time not to long ago, maybe a week or two and when i walked in the door i said hi, how are you to the guy at the front desk.... no response... i started looking at tanks and as i was walking around someone came out from the back and i said hi to them.... no response... i was the only one in the store :( anyways atleast i cant argue that their tanks dont look clean, just say hello at the least to your customers, geez

i felt the same way as onefishtwofish the first few times i went in there.... but i came to tems with the fact that they're just not up your a$$ with insincere friendliness, instead you get what you pay for. clean tanks, honest answers to questions, very healthy livestock, fantastic prices and someone that will unflinchingly stand behind his merchandise. (has done so for me). there is no other lfs that i'd rather support with my business... and i've travelled far to see most of them. infact, i gladly pay more to support a brick and morter store...although in Wills case he is usually right inline with internet prices, once you figure in shipping. so, to wrap it up... big fan of OA

My wife and I went in there today(better yet yesterday...its 12am.) We expected to see a big store, but what we found was a nice sized cozy lfs. I agree with onefish2fish, I walked in said how are you doing to the man at the counter he responded hello and nothing more. We walked around and looked at everything they had. You could hear a pin drop it was so quiet in there. I walked up to the man and asked a question. I got an answer....then silence again. Sooo...I asked another question, to make this short. We started talking and next thing you know he's drawing me a diagram on how to build my 1st sump/refuge. I could have asked him questions all day long, but I didn't. We had a nice time there and can't wait to go back to pickup my 75g rr tank and stand. Before we left I asked him is name. Will thanks for everything. We'll be seeing you again soon, I'll probably be there on Monday when you open to sit and wait for the tank and most likely to pick your brain....lol.

Hopefully he can make me another signed copy. :p

To me, he does business the way it should be.

Doesn't get in your face asking you about this and that.

Will answer any question you have and talk all day long -- but only if you make the initiative, which is good as there are some people out there who just won't shut up when you want them to.

I can never say how much I love going to AO. I wish I could go there more, but then I'd have no money!

Aquatic Obsessions, Avenel,NJ

I stopped in there today and left very impressed. I was speaking with Gary, who did not try and push anything on me to buy, but actually gave me good advice so as not to throw money out the window. I live much closer to Tropiquarium, but when it comes time to spend $$$$ I will support Aquatic Obsessions. Even one of the local customers there was extremely helpful. Thanks again for your time today guys and I'll see you soon.

TT

What I like about AO / Wil ... is that he's 'email friendly'. As in, he knew we were looking for a Scot's Fairy, so he emailed me to let me know! Went down, and picked up a total of three new Wrasses! He's not a LFS to us, we're up where in north Jersey ... so it's worth the trip when he keeps us informed via email!

Thanks Aquatic Obsession!
