Asterina Stars - I would like some

Interesting information.. So Phyl you purchase the CC and then you cut off a leg and then you freeze the rest. Does the harlequin eat the entire leg or just the feet? If just the feet the only worry I have is him pulling the leg some place I can't get to it and it just festering in the water column. Also, the frozen portion... What do you do just let it thaw out and cut off another leg? The refreeze it again? How does it stay fresh? How long can you keep it frozen? Let me know please..

It'll eat the whole leg. There won't be anything left to take out. You don't even need to defrost it really. Just get a sharp knife, hack off another leg and toss it in. It'll defrost in the water as the harlequin is "sizing" it up. If you have a sump, you can keep the CC in there and hope that it regenerates a leg or two before you've taken all 5. We've never been that lucky but some people say that they are. Now that we have a pair, we don't even bother with legs. We throw 1 large one in and they dine on it for a couple of weeks.

Thanks to everyone that replied.. I had to get rid of the harlequin as my Green Banded Goby was trying to have him for desert after eating my peppermint shrimp.. Thanks!

Sorry to be aiding and abetting those who are derailing a perfectly good thread, but my 2c on the topic follow:

I figure if someone can't be conciencious enough to list their city for me, I can't be bothered checking their zip code through google. Why should 15 people use google with the person with the want could just type out the city? This is the whole reason behind why we require city (not zip code) in the For Sale posts. :)

AMEN!

I agree, but had fun to read the posts ;D

I'm in Hackettstown 07840 a have tons of them and will start to get rid of them soon
