I've got the AquaChef by current. Although, I've never used it so I can't really vouch for the functionality of it. I other day andwas looking at it the it seems to be well made. It's made by the company Current.

If you're local and ever want to put your hands on it to see how it's made, you're more than welcome. I'm over in 08090 area. I know those internet pics make it hard to really see much sometimes...

Who knows, maybe once I get around to getting a fish in my 29 BC I'd use it. LOL Of course, with 4 kids, I don't really do many vacations... haha

I have this:

I have used several different auto feeders. The only unit that has been reliable for me is a Grasslin Rondomatic 400. It has 28 separate compartments, so you can feed different types of food. This feeder can dispense food 4 times in 24hr. I have used a AquaChef, Eheim 3581 and NutraMatic. All lasted maybe 2 years or less and were not heavily used (placement was determined by manufactures instructions) the Rondo is 8 years old and still kicking. I just looked in the dr foster and smith cat and it goes for $69.99, a little pricey but worth it IMHO. Here's a link

Hope that helps.

I use the Rondomatic 400 as well. The thing that I like most is that if it gets gummed up some how, you only miss 1 feeding. I use it daily to feed 2X day. I went on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks last year and the only drawback was that I could only have it feed for 2 weeks at 2X day before it was empty. All in all I like it very much.

thanks for the replies---the info is very helpful---i've been looking at the feeders from foster/smith---they have a few different ones---
