Hi, I was away this weekend for the holidays. When I came back, I noticed that quite few of my rocks had these long looking dark filaments. I was able to blow them away with a long turkey baster. But noticed some had grown back. Any idea what they might be and how to get rid of them? Oh they also kind of made a film on some of my rock.

Without photos, Id guess probably film algae - dark, easy to remove, covers everything. Could also be red algae, which looks dark, covers rocks, blows away easy. and can look like stringy strands.
Blow off with baster and change filter media regularly for a week or two, decrease nutrients and/or light, cerith snails work wonders, Chempure if you're into the chemical route (though this may cause worse diatoms).
Or, it could be ectoplasm, in which case you're screwed.
