I'm looking for a good one right now.. I have two Coralife Digital Thermometers and both have crapped out on me and both gave different temps.. Any Suggestions would be really appreciated

I had the same problem and just purchased the glass one that sticks inside the tank. I have it in a corner.

I should have one for back up .. but you had the same probs with them?.. The buttons on them are like mush and you have to press down really hard on them to turn them on and off.. then the display goes encrypted

the only downside to the glass ones is if they get unstuck from the tank, they float around.

When mine floated - it was attracted to the tunze magnet and slammed into it...glass broke, metal beads here:

For those of you not looking for a digital, we have the glass thermometers that sit on the sand bed. That way you don't have to worry about them floating and getting smashed.

I have my ACjr controller and the glass one stuck to the front corner. It has gotten loose but those tunze magnets must be huge vs Koralia ones cuz never did anything, wonder if it is a lead shot vs steel shot in the base?

Sid,

If you don't mind spending the extra money pick-up a reefkeeper lite and then you can control your lights/everything + display temperature in one easy to read location.

I love my RKL after the initial setup everything is so easy and offers me peace of mind. I walk over and see OHH Temp is 78.4 :) and this way you don't have to worry about the heaters as much since they'll be on 2 controllers (built in + RKL). I also have mine set so that with the MH if the temperature ever goes above 85 the lights cut off or you can even have it turn on a fan/chiller to help cool the tank.

I have a "Marina AquaMinder" I purchased for about $25. I also have an ugly floating glass one too. So far (8 mos) the digital one has been right on.

Maybe i should have got one now .. I was thinking something like that for my 92 and have this one as a backup or in the 150 sump or even a QT

That is right you're plumbing the sump in the basement!

I'd say go with the RKL you saw mine setup I think and I love it.

I'm pretty sure you can extend the temp probe connection if you wanted to mount the headunit upstairs next to the tank and the probe in the sump!

I'll check into it for you, but for $99 can't really beat the price especially since you won't need bulky timers and it has the controller built in for the heaters.
