Best way to clean coralline algae?

I’ll be picking up a used Red Sea Reefer 425 XL by the end of the month. It is CAKED with coralline algae. What would be the best way to tackle this?

While coraline algae isn’t necessarily bad, I just put my tank that I also got used through a vinegar bath for 5 days and it scraped right off.

Agreed. I just want to start fresh. What water to vinegar ratio did you use?

I have a 120 gallon tank and 30 gallon sump so 150 gallon total system and just used 2 gallons of vinegar and had the pumps going for 5 days.

Or you can scrape it off in chunks then put in small jars or whatever and offer it to members to seed their tank to promote growth
I’d be interested in getting some,, I know it works and lots of people would love to get some, especially those getting tanks started
Why throw it away when peeps could use it throwing it away seems wasteful

Just use citric acid and let it sit for overnight and then just light scrape will remove everything without any scratch

Thank you, gentleman! What ratio would you recommend?

I usually throw a couple cups in a 5 gallon salt bucket with a pump for cleaning mp wetsides and other encrusted stuff. You’ll need more obviously, you’ll know if it’s strong enough if it’s working....

It’s cheap on amazon, a 10lb bag usually lasts me 8-10 months.
