Best way to paint background?

Spray paint also here. MikeNapoli had a thread and the first few posts was about painting his tank.

I did NOT spray paint the overflows. I dunno why - I just didn't.

Its a good idea not to paint the overflow. This way you can see whats goin on if you have plumbing issues. Also to see who finds their way in there ;)
 
I'm planning on attaching a sheet of black acrylic to the back of my tank with velcro. That way, I can remove it for cleaning the back with a magfloat.

i think that is the way to go, i saw cool thread a while back on doing that one of the other web forums, i will see if i can find it

I actually did this with one of my freshwater tanks using that plastic poster board material...it's about 1/8 - 3/16 thick. Cheap, durable and easy to cut to fit the back of the tank....worked great.
