Have you read any reef books? If you join the club we have books you can borrow with a deposit.

Since you don't have anything alive in there yet you can add salt to raise it.

Hydrometer 1,021 - 1,022 good ?

You also may wish to consider a refractometer over a swing-arm hydrometer. Swing-arms tend to be accurately inaccurate. What I mean by this is that a swing-arm will consistantly give you the wrong number. Because of this, as a minimum, consider calibrating the swing-arm to someone who has a refractometer. As an example, you might find that 1.022 on the swing arm is equivalent to 1.025 with a refractometer.

The toughest part about tank is the patience. Add things too fast and they'll die (and so will your wallet). Please take your time. I know it's extremely tough, but not as frustrating as putting in fish/coral too soon or too much too quick. Hang in there. There's some great info on this site and other sites. Taking your time is the underlying theme though. Hope that didn't come across as negative, just what I learned the hard way after not heeding all the warnings I'd gotten from folks. Looks like you're off to a great start. Please keep us posted.

What are the rest of you water parameters? I agree with all of the above, patience is the key, nothing good happens fast in a aquarium. What are your goals for the tank?
