Biocubes

While I plan my 300 gallon tank, I am thinking of getting a smaller tank for my office for a wartskin angler. I was looking at a 14 or 29g biocube. Has anyone had any good experiences with these tanks?

I have a 12g AquaPod. Nice matching stand, 1 giant Cerianthus and a couple little fish (clown, blenny, cardinal). I had the MH lamp, but threw too much heat.

BTW, did you see the post earlier today about selling his 300g tank?

I have a 12g jbj, and I set up a 14g biocube for my aunt(she is a teacher, it is in her classroom) about 2 years ago. I like both tanks. Both tanks have pc lighting, the biocube is fowlr, the jbj has lps as well as fish and inverts. I don't know if the issue has been resolved, butt one point 29g biocubes were prone to cracking.

yikes i didn't know that (me with the used bc29). So far so good though.

I have a red sea max 130d and think compared to the jbj and biocubes it blows them out of the water.

It has everything incorporated including timers, a power center and includes a skimmer.

I think it's sleek only having one wire viewable and with the stand is great. I picked mine up the same as a new biocube costs.

I owned the 14g biocube, it wasn't bad, but doesn't compare to this.

Doesn't a new RSM cost 3x more than a biocube? he's looking to set up a small tank in his office for an angler...not a full-blown reef.

You need to keep the biocube 29s on a perfectly flat surface. People don't realize if they are leaning forward at all it puts a lot of pressure on the front curves of the glass which can cause them to fail. The ones that are 14g and under don't really have this problem due to the small water volume, but the 29g have enough pressure to crack the curved glass where it is the weakest.

For an angler the 29g would be plenty of room and probably your best bet. They are carnivores and produce a lot of waste, so the 29g can give you more room for error. You could do it in a 14g especially if it was the only fish, they max out around 4 inches. Your only issue there would be keeping an eye on water quality and making sure it did not foul the tank. I love anglers but with 4 tanks already setup, I do not need another.
