BioPellets

Thinking about doing some BioPellets. While I don't have a major Nitrite/nitrate problem my numbers are slowly ticking upwards. I have the dual chamber BRS Carbon/GFO reactor so was thinking of either adding a single reactor but i have a read a few posts saying not to run GFO and BioPellets, so I guess i can replace the GFO piece. Also trying g to figure out the correct sizing, which is about 4 cups for my 200 Gallons/total system volume.

Any experience with this stuff?

Thanks

Just so you under stand I have a heavily stock 180.
I run Warner Marine Bio Pellets. I do believe they are the best.
I run GFO, Bio Pellets, and carbon. All in there very own reactors. You should never use a dual reactor with Bio Pellets. You can foul them out with poor water flow.
I have just recover from bad fish food that caused very high PO4.

When you use bio pellets start with a third for the first two weeks, a third on week three and four. Then you the last third on week five. Do not Rush and put all the pellets in at once. You can turn your water white with a bacteria bloom.

I run biopellets and GFO in my system too. Just run them in separate reactors, so each gets the proper flow.

You also need to use a bacterial additive once in a while like zeobak or similar. So.you don't create a mono-bacterail system. Over time this use of a single carbon source will slowly deplete alot of the beneficial bacteria and only leave one good strain. Which can lead to bad bacteria forming and causing havoc on your sps. I've found and read in the past that guys using a bacterial additive monthly or biweekly with bio pellets as well as vodka/vinegar dosing have gotten some amazing results.
