looks cool- I think Fluval is making them. It really depends on how good there training is. The small water volume scares me for newbies. I have been able to keep my 36 galon fluval going though.

small tanks are tough, the biggest issue i had with my 10gal IM was swings in salinity.....also after a while, once i started to add a bunch of items, skimmer, wave maker, heater, media etc. the tank itself became a cluttered eyesore

pretty cool though if you dont over load tank with tons of corals, i guess you would have to add some and not let it get out of control,,, great idea for kids room

It looks like they pre-determine what you get. I mean nothing stopping someone from going to a LFS and buying things on their own. I find the whole idea (and granted people should follow their idea if they go with it) is that they give you the fish and corals so you don't 'over stock' your tank or purchase wrong corals.

Do agree good idea for a kid's room or someone who willing to keep up the maintenance but doesn't really want to do all the research into the hobby.

personally i do not like the set up, as is, like James @njtiger24 aquariums mentioned, its a little misleading IMO.

if you look at the video, they are only selling you the concept. (the fish coupon, sand, rock, corals etc) they are using the Fluval Evo Marine Aquarium for the set-up Evo Aquarium Kit | 10528 | Aquariums & Furniture | Fluval

also, as we all know long term mechanical filtration will only take you so far...3 fish in such a small tank with minimal filtration is heavy bio load that you will have to deal with

in the video, they also only recommend that you cycle your tank for 48hrs before you add the live rock and fish.....it's almost like a placebo affect if you ask me.....in the picture they are only showing how the tank will look after you set up day 1

I have the Fluval M90 and over the year replace alot of the equipment. If I knew this club or the hobby better would have done differently

Replaced:
Powerhead (killed suction cups with vinegar. Hate suction cups lol)
Return pump ( seized up)
Protein Skimmer ( convinced I could get better skim)

Lights I don't love but If I invest in lights I am going to new tank

Overly expensive tank, 5 'packs' of salt for a 6 month supply (a water change once a month?), no cycle, 13 gallon volume, 3 fish, mixed corals, marketed to beginners.

I figure that in 2 months, if they sell 100 tanks, there will be 300 dead fish, 400 dead corals, and 100 Fluval tanks on Craigslist.

That is my fear with something like this. You hit it on the head "marketed to beginners". They say they offer document to help learn about the hobby but you have to buy the product to unlock it, unless I read that wrong. So a person couldn't even do research on their site (for care and what not) BEFORE buying. Now we are smart enough to hit other sites for research but most people are not until its too late.

The selling pitch is the #2 marine biologists that are running this. That's the allure in my opinion.

"Who else would know how to do this than a marine biologist"? They must know what they r doing....right?

I think it's a wash....im sure fluval is happy though, they have somebody else to move their tanks for them

Oh you must be talking about that one LFS having the "Finding Dory" sale lol
You mean the LFS that has the instructional sign telling beginners that all it takes is 20 mins./week (or is it per month?) to care for a marine aquarium? [emoji23] What a sick sense of humor they have. The "Just Call Me 'Bruce' Sale." Poor "little" fishes aren't laughing.
