Black Nudibranch?

Out of nowhere today I saw a black nudibranch looking thing scooting across the glass in my 30 cube.

I can't seem to find anything on it that matches it's description exactly. So I figured I would throw it out here and see if anyone can come up with an idea.

Here are a few terrible pictures (taking pics of a black nudi with 14k lighting proved to be difficult at best!)

It has a little pom pom looking thing near the tail that you can't see in the pics.

Thanks!

That is so cute! I can't believe it survived (as most of the ones we TRY to keep die on us without warning). I'd send it to shimmek or WWM to see what they have to say about it. Who/where did you get the rock from?

interesting find not sure whether it's a good or bad thing. Does it look like it harmed anything in your tank?

I believe that is a black sea slug and you can actually buy those over at the PetShanty for 29.99. He has 2 left and they are really neat! Very sleek and shiny in black.. Amazing to watch.. nice find!

I'll post it over on MD's site and see if Dr. Ron can help with a positive ID.

The rock was from Aquatic Obsessions, I *believe* it's Walt Smith rock. I can't tell if it's eaten anything in the tank...there are only rics in there...so hopefully it's not a ricordea eating nudi! lol

If you really want to know what kind of slug it is, post a good pic or two over at www.seaslugforum.net. Bill Rudman loves to ID those things. If you search on my last name you will see a couple I posted on there over the years!

Actually don't bother. He now says he mostly ignores aquarium questions because they all refer to the same six species. I guess he got tired of people writing in about keyhole limpets ("elephant slugs") ::).

that looks EXACTLY like the one i found in my tank like 3 years ago. I was never able to figure out what kind it was. If someone finds out what kind it is, post the latin name so i can research it, thanks

I broke down the tank that it was in and stuck it in the fuge in my other tank. I'm pretty sure it was eating my ricordea, but I just couldn't "rid" myself of it!

Hey ReefDrums what kind of 30G do you have? I checked your site hoping to find pics....

It was a 30g Oceanic Cube. I took it down and sold it...too much stuff going on right now to have 3 tanks going... Ya know..I haven't even looked at my website in months, thanks for reminding me about it! lol
