Blackout idea

Running late this morning, wanted to do a blackout, got the tape, got the cardboard...
then I saw a fitted sheet.

I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I never thought of it before.
A king size fitted sheet should be able to cover almost any tank.
This is it on my 40, install time 10 seconds.

how are you covering the top? that light overtop would defeat the purpose of the blackout

Piece of cardboard over the top.
Just left it off so folks could see how the sheet was on.

Lax on water changes. Noticed a few good sized areas of hair algae taking hold.

i read that hydrogen peroxide...diluted - also works? Never tried.

Mmmm, tank was totally black for 84 hours.
Still got the algae in the same 2 places. It's less but still present.
Chemipure, manual clean, and 20% wc tomorrow.

I have used peroxide in fresh water tanks. Works amazing. Never seemed to affect anything but the algae. However I have never done this in a coral tank so do not take this as advise. But it might be worth looking into.

If you can remove the rocks with hair present, dip it in hydrogen peroxide it will die withing days. Only have to dip the algae
