Blue spot jaw fish

Is anybody keeping one? I know they can be jumpers. How are they with digging in the sand? I have high flow and haven't gotten any gobies yet cause I don't want them filtering the sand and it blowing all over my corals. Do the blue spots just dig a hole and stay in it?

They usually dig in one spot and then perfect that hole . They will carry sand away from the hole while digging it and place it away from opening . They will then search around for stones, shells, gravel or whatever else they can find to make the opening hole pretty and sturdy . There always messing with the burrow, not tossing sand around the whole tank but just fidgeting around .
And they are jumpers, worse than pearly jaws . Both of mine jumped . What is weird is they jump with no reason that is apparent, they both dug holes and were in the tank for a while and then just jumped . My pearly has been in for a year and no jumping issues . They are all more fun to watch in groups . They will wait for eachother to not be looking and steal the nicest rock from there neighbor . One of my favorite fish to watch .

We had a great although short tenure with a blue spotted jawfish. First off, if you don't have a canopy don't get one. They are jumpers and they will find the smallest hole (ours found a 1/2 inch hole). They have amazing personality and are a joy to watch and if I ever have a tank with a canopy I will get one again. Also, they are hardcore reaquascapers and will redo any rockwork/frags that you have near where they decide to have their burrow. They dig constantly and will continue to perfect their home. I don't want to sound negative about them, they are great fish but everything you heard about them jumping/digging is 100% true. I was leaving for work when i found mine carpet surfing and it was not a good day. The problem is they are like a hundred dollar fish, not a cheap mistake.

I love this fish. I was actually talking to Will over at AO last night about one. The first thing that came out of his mouth was, "Do you know that they are jumpers?". He stated that even if you have a netting on your tank, that they will always find a way to jump ship. I really want one, but to dish out over $100 to come home and find it on the floor, is not well worth it. Knowing me, I will still get it, if the price is right.

Blue Spots grow a lot bigger than the pearlys and I saw a pic where the tail of a firefish was sticking out of the BSJ's mouth....lemme see if I can dig it up.

Wow sweet picture hawkeye! I said it before,,, I think any fish will eat anything they can fit in their mouths

Sorry for the late reply - yes, I heard they were jumpers and my guy found the ONLY 1x1 hole in the back of the glass canopy to JUMP thru. It was over. They do prefer a courser sand and rocks - helps build a better cave.

Had him for a while too, sad. But I took this great video ...

Your found a 1x1 hol, I think their odds of escape are pretty good then

Just brought home one tonight from AO. Made sure that I have covered the top with eggcrate and netting. Hopefully, that will keep him in there. He's been digging and throwing sand about but it's not enough to cloud my tank.

Bought one from Will over at AO a few days ago. Have my tank completely covered with eggcrate and a screen velcroed to it. Seems to be adapting well to my tank but you never know. Keeping my fingers crossed!
