Bristle Worms

I put an arrow crab in there 4 days ago and havn't see a bristle worm since... it maybe a coincident though because i havn't really been looking at my tank as much.

i thought arrow crabs weren't reef safe? as in they will try and kill other sessile inverts like shrimp?

Sessile Invertabrates are corals and anemones, not shrimp. Those are just regular invertabrates.

And they are reef safe but like all crabs they are opportunistic feeders and will go after slow/dying fish, and smaller inverts like shrimp.

As far as going after corals ... as soon as I see him do that he'll get squashed.

sessile...motile...always get them mixed up one way or other...goes to show you should never take anything on the board as "fact" - verify verify verify!

Just ah...be nice when you correct me! ;)

i guess one thing that wasn't addressed in this post is why you want to rid yourself of the bristleworms...they are the ultimate "CUC" and come free. Obviously you want to avoid the one that eats corals - but that one (to my knowledge) is infrequently imported into tanks with LR.

But if you are set on it - an alternative I have read about is dropping a piece of hose with some bait...the worm's spines/bristles will get caught in the hose and you just pull it up in the morning. You'll want to place the bait near where you think the worm(s) reside and do so right after lights out.

good luck!
