Broken RO/DI unit

Needed to make water and noticed that the unit was spraying all over under the metal piece that holds the 3 canisters. I took it aprat and notced one of the connections are broke going from the middle canister the third. Is there a way to fix this? Thinking I can unscrew the nut piece and but a connection of some kind at Lowes or HomeDepot. See first pic.

Also, I need to replace the media but was unable to unscrew it. Anyone know what media is in it? See pic of the other 2 media.

Mods, feel free to move. I have no water so to me its an emergency.

Thank you for the reply. I was banging my head against the wall for breaking that. Still can't the other canister open.

OR you could check out TBAquatics..I got all my ro/di stuff thru Brian and was pleasantly surprised on great stuff at a fraction of the cost of others..gd luck Mark

I believe what Mark needs is the nipple that connects two canisters together. It is not a John Guest, but a standard ¼” nipple as seen here:

You can get them in brass at Home Depot (don’t believe they have the plastic/Teflon ones there), but I’d highly suggest you pick up a plastic one at a plumbing supply house or order from Air Water and Ice or some other supplier

Mark, I had a problem awhile back when it was "stuck" try some cooking oil around the threads and use the plastic wrench and tap it lightly with a hammer.OR try a pvc pipe over the handle of the plastic wrench for more leverage.I even tried to tighten it and in the next motion loosen it.

Paul, That was basically my question. I am not technical enough to know these plumbing terms.
I will try HD and Lowes; if not there two local mom and pop stores I can try.

I know Lowes carries them, don't forget to get some teflon tape too. I think it's called Watts quick connect fittings.

Mark, I think Paul is correct with the part you need. It's a standard 1/4" Hex Nipple. The John Guest fittings are a push-in quick connect fitting and yours is definitely a male threaded nipple. I'd suggest trying to keep it all plastic if you can.

As for being able to unscrew the canister, it will be much easier if you reconnect them to the mounting frame, as this will keep the "lid" locked in place by the screws. Then use the wrench to unscrew it. It should never be that tight that you can't unscrew it. When you put them on, they only need to be hand tight, and then maybe a quarter turn with the wrench. The rubber gaskets seal them pretty good without having to wrench it on super tight. Just an FYI for when you put it back together.

As to what media you need to put back in there, I'm going to guess you might need the DI resin. I see you have a carbon block, a sediment filter, and it's obviously not the RO membrane those would be in the horizontal canister. The only thing it could be is DI resin but the other clear/horizontal canister with the blue caps looks like that might be DI resin in it.

If the media in there is loose as opposed to a pull out filter, it's going to be DI resin or possibly carbon. I'd have to see it to be sure though.

for pluming related stuffs, I always go to Lowes first, they got more stuffs compared to HD.
