Hey guys, just got this stuff for the first time. B ionic is getting too expensive. Just wondering, when you mix this stuff, is it supposed to get very warm?

Yes....it's slightly exothermic. It won't get so hot it melts the plastic container.

Is it okay to mix the rest of my b ionics with the new stuff or would you guys advise against it?

If you mixed two cups of soda ash made up to one gallon with RO/DI water, it is the same as B-Ionic....so no problem mixing them. Just make sure you mix Alk with Alk and Calc with Calc. You'll know right away if you screw up....calcium carbonate will immediately precipitate.

ESV is actually 37% more concentrated than recipe 1. Although you can mix them, it may throw off your dosing calculations until you have used the mixture. I would suggest you use the remaining ESV before starting with the soda ash mix.

There was only a little bit left in there, not enough to siphon up into the doser so I just switched em
