Butterfly Not eating

Just got a Pearlscale and Copperband butterfly and would like any suggestions on feeding- they do not seem to be eating.

thanks

What have you tried so far?

PaulB and Blange3 I believe are using blackworms successfully. You should hit them up. Theyve both been successful keeping them.

Blackworms got my copperband started. Never could wean it off of live food, though. Mostly ate the blackworms and live brine shrimp. You could also try a fresh clam on the half-shell. Be patient, though. It can take a few days for many butterflies to start eating.

Are the fish in quarantine? You have a much better chance of getting them started without competition.

My CBBs have always gone nuts for PE Mysis -- No fish can resist it! Dittos on the live blackworms though, that's probably their favorite. They say a freshly opened clam is irresistable, but that has never worked for me.

You can get a rock from someone with apatasia on it and give it a go.. I know someone who has a seperate 20 gallon tank full of rubble with apatasia all over it. Thousands of them. He feeds his flies with it all the time, just drops a piece in and they wipe it out. Don't know what kind of tank you have though. If it's a reef then over time they might spread from this. Although I don't think his ever did?

Good luck with the copperband. My guess is it will be dead in a week. They are real hard to keep I could not even get mine to eat in QT. I tried blackworms, live brine you name it I tried it. The key is to only buy one from a LFS that you know is eating already.
