Save yourself the headache and make sure you get the following regulator regardless of the reactor:
http://www.aquariumplants.com/CarbonDoser_Electronic_Co2_Regulator_p/co2.htm

If you do a 10 min search on it, it's hands down the best and problem free regulator used. There are a few threads on here regarding the topic.

+1 on the aquariumplants regulator Dan. I replaced my reef fanatic because the solenoid went bad. This one is by far is the best. After you go thru one or two regulators after the solenoid goes bad, you'll wish you bought this one in the first place. If you want to swing by and see my setup Dan, you're welcome.

Dan, when I was looking at calc reactors, I liked the dual chamber concept. I ended up with a dual chamber MRC and really like it. I've never had a single chamber reactor, but I know the GEO reactors have a good reputation. Let me know when you want to swing by.

When I was looking in to cal reactors all my research brought me back to the aquarium plans regulator and MRC reactors. From what I've read you can't miss on either one.

I've had the reef fanatic regulator for about 2 years and so far I haven't had a single issue with it (knock on wood). I don't think that I've even touched it since I last changed my bottle. When it does finally go I may replace it with the aquarium plants regulator.

Don't spend the money on a nice shiney aluminum bottle. Most places won't refill it and will just swap it out.

Think about whether you want to control it with a pH controller or not. Some reactors don't have ports for a pH probe. With those you use the bubble count and flow rate to control the reactor output. Adding a pH controller allows you to also control the pH in the reactor and thus the rate at which the media dissolves. I find it a little easier to fine tune it that way.

Getting a stable flow rate through the reactor can be a pain. The needle and micro ball valves that come with them tend to clog. I found a pinch valve that works a little better. Some guys are using peristaltic pumps but the ones that are rated for continuous duty are pretty pricey. Most are buying used ones off of ebay.

If you want to check out my geo you can stop by.

Thanks john I will check out the MRC reactors

I have an RO Dual chamber Calcium reactor.... The dual chamber allays any concern with PH swings because it flows through an extra chamber....

Thanks for all the info guys
I have a option to buy this setup for $400 he is also throwing in a 10lbs Co2 tank and a regulator what do you guys think

Good price IMO. And it comes with the better of the 2 pumps. Which shows it's at least a newer model.
