Can I trim my frame?

C5C9A828-9923-498F-A183-41308C4D3675.jpeg so I got my light rack today and the mounts don’t fit over the sides of my tank because the inner lip of my frame is to wide can I cut it out? Here’s a pic the red is where I want to cut it out and the blue highlights the actual part I’m talking about. I feel like I’ve been posting to much and probably not in the right places so let me know if that’s true also please. I’m just really bummed the bracket doesn’t fit and I’m still working on actually getting the lights attachedshoot me.

From experience...
Use a Dremmel if you have one.
Regardless, cut slow and steady or the plastic just melts.
Take a paper plate.
Cut it in half.
Push the straight portion up under the rim on the inside.
Bend the circle part of the plate to catch the plastic droppings.
