canister filter broke!!!

came home today to 5 gallons of water on my floor and water pouring out the sides of my canister filter for some reason it will not stay sealed anyone know where i can get a replacement?
or any reccomendations on a quality filter for a 30 gallon nano

thanks!

If you are interested in making the switch, I would recommend the aqua c remora HOB skimmer for a 30g. I found that my nanos were easier to maintain with a skimmer and water changes than a filter.

I have one of these on my 40B freshwater tank. http://truaqua.com/aquatop-canister-filter-cf-500uv.html I can't believe the price that some pay for "name brand" canister filters. I've had this system on my 40B going on 7 months now with no issues what so ever. Love it and easy to clean. I did however add a Hydor Nano Skimmer to my 10G tank and thus far have found myself doing WC's every 2 weeks rather than once a week when I didn't have it. The skimmer does a hell of a job getting out all the nasties in the tank. So if anything why not do a skimmer and maybe a HOB filter? In the 10G I have the skimmer and a HOB Aqueon that does 200GPH. It holds filter floss and Chemi-Pure. Both fish and corals seem happier than ever!!!

Also how big is the tank that your canister is on? I only ask because TruAqua.com has other canister filters that have lower GPH that are cheaper. I was thinking of using the 525GPH one on a 30L tank this summer.

thanks for everyones replies! it is a jebo 3 stage canister filter for some reason the water is pouring out the sides i'm going to try and fix it today but i run a uv sterilizer and a protein skimmer on the tank as well its a 30 gallon long.
NikkiT that unit is a dream come true but we're in the process of trying to buy a home so my funds are zilch

ok i took the whole thing apart and found a MASSIVE colony of vermetid snails living in the self priming/impeller area keeping the o-ring from sealing never woulda have found it if i didnt unscrew the whole top.... cleaned em out with a new tooth brush and reassembled so far so good i'll keep an update for the next 24 hrs

You might want to try giving all the rubber parts a thin coating of Plumber’s Grease. You can get a small tube in HD for 10-12 dollars, or a lifetime supply at Leslie’s Pool Supply for (I think), $6.99. I’ve been using this stuff for years, and it preserves the rubber and assists in making a good seal. So check out your local Leslie's for their Pool Lube. (And YES, it is safe to use in our tanks.)
