Are spotter and thirty5 one and the same or just sharing pics:p for their avatars? Glad you found the problem.:applause: They are good pumps generally pretty bulletproof. You could just dial it back one to a Mag9.5 that would help some.

Alternate return pump suggestion would be an Eheim 1262. A bit more money up front but are supposed to be far more efficient power wise than the mags.

Or as mentioned you could plumb it with an external pump. Reeflo makes very good external pumps.

So after reading everything I tried two of the tunze pumps. very disappointed as they did not have enough power to move the water up to the display rank, just enough to fill the return. Annoying.

Hearing what everyone suggested I decided to try and raise the pumps out of the water. Using egg-crate (light diffuser) and a angled pipe to get down into the water. I completed this today but the bad pump is still generating enough heat to cause problems. I have requested that Danner (magdrive) replace the pump as this shouldn't be a fine solution. Will let you know when I have a new pump.
