Choose a Skimmer

What happens if you use a skimmer that's too large for the system? Will it stop skimming or just skim too much? Or hard to dial in properly?

Thinking about upgrading but quite confused about the hundreds of skimmers out there.

For Example:

RO Elite 200INT:
- 400 Gallon – Light Filtration Demand
- 300 Gallon – Medium Filtration Demand
- 200 Gallon – Heavy Filtration Demand

RO Elite 150INT:
- 210 Gallon – Light Filtration Demand
- 160 Gallon – Medium Filtration Demand
- 100 Gallon – Heavy Filtration Demand

I have 105 DT + 40 Frag heavily stocked (I think)

The skimmer will stop skimming till it needs too. Better to have an over size then under size IMHO. I have a life reef which out of the 3 skimmers i've had in the past (SWC, Reef Octopus) the easiest to dial in. I haven't adjusted it since I got it dialed in after the break in period.

Correct any pressure pump, I'm using a pan world. People generally love or hate the skimmer. I think more people don't like the web site as it a bit snake oil sales like and for the 80s, but I'm sold on it. You'll find a number of people using the same skimmer for years with no issues. Other ones which are compared are the MTC.
