Citric acid

Picked up some citric to deep clean my hanna checker vials. I rinse them out after every use but they were looking dirt and not as clear. So I figured I would try some citric acid I got a little plastic container put a tablespoon of citric acid in with about a cup of water soaked the vials overnight and took a little bottle brush cleaned the inside. They look like they are brand new now highly recommended it i wish I took before and after pictures.

eventually, in my experience, the hanna checkers tubes will develop a film/residue that rinsing out won't really clean. its good to deep clean to get that out so the checker stays accurate

Yeah they build up a film after awhile and become not as clear.

Good idea. I've noticed a residue on mine. Gonna do do this.

I use nail polish remover in mine when ever i start to get strange readings... Just fill it half way, shake the **** out of it, empty then clean with a paper towl and a small screwdriver to swish the paper towl around... flush with fresh water a few times and good as new..

thats why i use nail polish remover, its basically denatured alcohol

Won't the nail polish remover remove the white painted 10ml line that's on the vail.

I soak in vinegar (inside only). And then rinse and clean with A bottle brush. I do it every two weeks.

I thought nail polish remover was acetone. I don't think it is chemically anything like alcohol.

I used vinegar as well. Works as well or better then citric acid and you probably already have some in the house

Vinegar typically contains 5–20% by volume acetic acid.
