cl-150 Chiller Problems

Hello All,

What a night.. Went out to dinner, came home and started to feed the tank.. All of a sudden I hear SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. I look behind the tank and water is spewing out of the chiller hose.. I am like WTH! I quickly grab the hose that looks like it is going to pop off at any moment and then shut down the system.. Sure enough the connector broke off.. What in the world! Only been using it 7 months. So now I am in worry mode.. Fortunately it was only 8:55 and I was able to call the PS and he happen to have one in stock, so he helped me out with new connectors while I get this replaced ( fixed ).. I come home undo the connectors, and pull out the little washers. NOW LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... I only hand tighten these things.. washers are in tact, so I go to take them off the connector and the whole thing disintegrates and not only the one that broke.. I checked the other one as well and same thing happened. So now I have a huge problem.. Will the cap thread far enough to stop the water from leaking..

I added some teflon tape and hoped for the best.. It seems to be holding but still drips a drop every once in awhile.. I am afraid to go to sleep and do not have a backup solution for circulation or heating except to increase the temperature on the heater I have to make up for the drop at night that the chiller compensates.

I will contact Pacific Coast tomorrow along with Gary over at Champion Lighting and see what happens.. In the meantime I have some photos for you.. I suggest anyone with one of these chillers to check their connectors ASAP for hairline fractures or cracks. Don't wait for them to break off.

I really appreciate the offer Bconn. Thanks so much for being there in time of need. I will let you know what happens and thanks.

that is weird! good thing you were home.

Thats some poorly made plastic, it reminds me of plastic thats been overheated and them becomes brittle.

Hello there,

No ozone :D.. Well here is what I have to say about this.

Pacific Coast Rules. They really came through. They contacted me quickly and kept in communication with me. Not only did they replace the chiller, but they sent along some extra items I requested free of charge, not to mention the returning of the chiller back them was free of charge to me as well.

I knew I did the right thing by buying most of my parts from this company in the past. I will continue to do so in the future, since they have proven to me that they stand by their words and their products. I can't speak for everyone out there, but I can tell you from my experience with Pacific Coast Imports that they are a top quality company with great product, great prices, and above all my vote for great support!

Thank you Pacfic Coast for everything you have done. You have my respect and my business.

I'm glad to hear the company came through for you, and replaced the unit.

However, if the plastic is still the same, you have a good chance of having a similar problem 7 months or so from now. I suggest you stock up on some spare parts, or consider what you will do if you have another failure.
