clam question

Depends on the clam.  Some are more light intensive than others.

I know several people who have successfully kept clams under T5s, but MH are generally recommended for Crocea and Maxima clams.

That does not mean it cannot be done with T5s, just means on average they reportedly do better under MH.

Crocea are the most light intensive clams followed by Maxima.  The other species of clams are less light intensive.

The color of the clam also factors into this.

How deep is your tank, what T5 fixture do you have, type of clam you want?

I have a derasa admittedly the least light craving of the bunch and it is growing like crazy under 8X54W T5 120G 24in deep tank. You can probably keep any clam you want depending on the setup .... feeding helps too so you can offset lighting to a degree.
I don't feed mine a ton to be honest.
