Clams????

Has any1 ever seen a pale yellow clam that has a huge tongue that moves around the tank b4? its only 3/4 of an inch but I never seen anything like it im just curious if its friend or foe...

sounds like some sort of a scallop because a flame scallop will swim that way if im not mistaken. a clam will secure itself with its foot.

Welcome to NJRC!

Define what you mean by "tongue"? Is this a reference to the foot? When you say yellow clam - is this a reference to the color of the shell or the mantle?

Without further info, you'll have to post a pic.

Not all bivalves secure themselves the way Tridacnas do. There are many burrowing clams that will use their foot for movement for example the many clams commonly found in a fish market (little neck, top necks, surf clams used for bait etc.)

Im sorry but I cant get a good picture of it. but let me try with more detail to describe it. Its shell is a golden yellow color it has more of a mussel shape vs clam but kind looks like what some call a piss clam or maybe even a scallop when its shell opens up it has a 1 inch long tongue looking thing that comes out and pulls they shell around its looks like the same tongue/leg no only makes this thing mobile but it also eats with it. are there any clams, mussels ,or scallops that are a threat to livestock in tanks?
