Also keep us update. We did a little patchwork for now, we got some locally at Petco in Brick and ordered some from NYAquatic as part of a larger order. We will see if we need to fill in the gaps.

Since I am home with the birth of my newborn, I took a trip to Reefco today, they have healthy cleanup crew and a abundant amount of them. Yes, reefcleaners is cheaper, but these inverts were also much bigger. If they are in your area, highly reccomend.

Also I'm a huge fan of indo Pacific sea farms in Hawaii. Never had a problem with a shipment, especially sending it to CVS or some temp controlled hub

Anyone ever ordered the Tang Heaven Red from ISPF? I was wondering if it is a mixture of different red algaes or maybe just one species. I'd love to get just Ogo.

Looking at the page again, the Tang Heaven Red is Gracilaria parvispora, which Wikipedia says is indeed Red OGO.

I had a whole refugium full of it last time I ordered it. And everything ate it, grew well too.

Glad to hear it. I want to grow it to feed my fish too, and hopefully sell any excess to my LFS.

Two questions: Did you "tumble" it? Did you supplement iron for it?

I found another source stateside for bulk quantities of Ogo, but I prefer to give my business to people like ISPF who supply items for our hobby.

:) Humorous Aside: I was inspired to tumble by a guy in Austin, TX who was actually growing it in an outdoor tub. He planned to sell it to local Japanese Restaurants and Asian food markets. Unfortunately, his local water supply was high in sulfur, and his product tasted terrible!

I didn't tumble it. It doesn't grow as aggressively as chaeto. Ulva will grow faster if you're looking for something that's more nutrient export than food. Ogo was a nice balance. Chaeto just grew to well. And I keep the light on 24/7 and just use a pair of tweezers to roll over the chaeto. So it gets the barrel and tumbling effect

I received my order today from John at ReefCleaners and I'm very happy with it.
Everything came alive even with UPS delaying the shipment by a day. (i am having the worse luck with shipments lately).
Packaging was top notch and the internal temps stayed around 70* when I opened the box, even with the delay

Here is a rundown of my order:

  • 10 x Astrea Snails
  • 3 x Bumbleebee snails (John added a few more)
  • 6 x Dove Snails
  • 2 x Pithos Crabs
  • 3 x Smooth Shell Turbos
  • 1 x Pincushion Urchin
I will def order again when i need to replenish. This was a great order outside of the initial shipment through USPS but that was mostly on USPS and not ReefCleaners.

I just go to AqOb. I realize online may be cheaper, but I try and support the mom and pop shops when i can. I know I have been M.I.A. but been busy acting as an ATM for my two daughters. You can blame Mark for getting me back on here as he somehow got my account fixed.
