Closing "punchout" in top of overflow wall

I have a 120 with dual corner overflows. Bought the tank used around six years ago. The slight problem that I am having recently is that One of my clowns likes to swim right into the overflow because the breakaway tab is missing. The previous owner had the returns shooting toward the front glass and I have them in the back. any ideas on what I can use to cover the open hole up ( I hope you understand what I am talking about :-\) Haven't had a problem in six years and now my clown has swum into the overflow 3 times in one month. It is a real pain to get him out too. I have to raise the waterlevel in the tank to the top rim of the tank and wait till he decides to swim back into the main section. Obviously this is a risk for flood and/or electric components getting wet like I have done already, but I installed the mega-flow's and they leave me no room to even put a net in there.

Can you just lower the water level and silicone a piece of acrylic over the hole?

Great idea Jason, If that doesn't work, I'm going to look into a piece of acrylic like Mike said, but I was worried about the curvature.

Thanks again guys

Wow malulu, That's not a bad idea either that would stop all my snails and shrimp from going into the sump...I'm always worried that they will get stuck in the tubing on their journey to the basement. I'd have to find somethin rounder since I have corner overflows though.

Thanks for sharing

not really need a rounder one...
you can cut off TWO side like i did - look again on the picture #1, you then know what i mean...
;)

there was a time, one of my clown fish disapear for 2 weeks, while i was clearning something on the top, i noticed there is a white color thingy inside the overflow, after closer look, realized it was the missing clown! took me quite a while to get it out - i end up with pull out the pipe and let it flush to the pump then net it out... after the "gate keeper", no more missing clown!
;D
