Clown Goby...lacerated stomach??

Well my clown goby was doing better. The swelling was gone and he was fattening back up until today. I went to do a water change on the 10 gallon and he swam by the siphon and got sucked in (I huess his strength wasn't back). The siphon was big enough for him to fit halfway in and stopped. I got him out as quickly as possible, but after he came out, he now has a laceration on his belly, that had "blood" coming from it :'(

Is there any hope he'll survive this??

Hopefully the antibiotics will stop an infection. You can always apply neosporine to the wound a couple times a day to help it heal a little better. Of course that requires catching him to do it.

So I should begin dosing antibiotics again??

It's not looking good!! He was breathing very heavily after it happened and the breathing has slowed a lot. I have a really bad feeling that he won't make it the next 30 minutes or so.

I wouldn't start dosing again. He should have enough antibiotics in his system right now to fight it off, as long as he has the strength. The neosporine will actually do more than the Maracyin as it is a topical applied directly to the wound.

The slowed breathing may just be him calming down. Here's hoping he pulls trough.

Damn Steve, I was typing as you were. Sorry for the loss, you really did all you could for this guy.

Thanks guys!! It's just so annoying that you do so much to nurse a fish back to health and starts looking up and then crash...it becomes worse. Ugh

i hate when they go mia in the tank i lost a few fish they r there 1 day and the next gone?havent seen my 2spot goby come 2 think about it ???dam
