Very good Joe, one of my favorite fishes.....good luck with it.No he is not eating GHA yet but he is eating frozen on day 3. Very surprise he learned so quick to chase down floating food. The foxface is much more timid hiding in the rocks.
Very nice! Where did you get the Copperband from? I just picked up my second one. I ordered it from Unique Corals. They guarantee them to eat frozen. The first one I got didn't last 3 days. I think it got beat up in shipping. The replacement one eats like a pig. It will also eat flake food which is a plus! My only problem are my tangs won't let it come out of the left side of my tank. I am sure that will change over time. What kind of foxface did you get? That is my next fish I want, but i can never find them small enough. I always see huge ones. I am thinking about ordering one from petco.com
I got them from petco.com again. Very fat fish. I suspect these just came off the boat so they came in very robust. He eating quite a bit of frozen now. The Kole Tang beat up the regal angelfish so now he's in the sump. I now have no tang to take care of algae. Algae is showing up quick as soon as the tangs are removed. I ordered a medium magnificent foxface. It turned out he's pretty big. But I want him to be big enough to eat bubble algae. I will have him trained in the QT.
Still want to add a tiny bristletooth tang though nothing eats algae better. But all the tangs are psychopath.

I try to give them a comfortable environment and max out the bio. I know it would be a problem to treat fish but I like them to eat well first then treat as necessary. I know a lot of people do bare bottom with no live rock but for some reason I was never successful with that.
That's great! I had a copper band when I had my 75 gallon a few years ago and when I got him he was eating frozen and he kept eating it for months and was happy and healthy but then after a while he just stopped eating. They are very cool fish for sure. I didn't realize Petco.com was a good place to order fish from, that's nice to know.

Trying to feed a varied diet. Read stories of sudden death from both the Regal Angelfish and Copperband. People blame the diet. Indeed the fish are always grazing and eat small portions at a time. I suspect these guys eat a lot of food daily in the wild.
Paul - when I tried blackworm it dies quite fast once it's in the water. I would say it lasts less than 15 minutes. Is there a trick to keep them alive longer? What other good stuff you feed your fish?

I thought that was to wash the fish off. What else could it be for. It's cellulose, or plastic.
The worms die in about 10 seconds so once they realize they are food, they eat them as soon as they hit the water. But that fish doesn't look to good. What are all those blotches on it or is that on the glass? Feed that guy clams and worms, that's about it.
Paul, this doesn't sound very good for you. If you've lost your hair, have a propensity for supermodels, are experiencing hip pain, and are now seeing blotches, this will quickly be followed by rapid onset dementia!

I put the fish in the DT so it can graze on the rocks. It spent a few days grazing and stopped eating frozen. After it ate all the stuff in the tank it resumed eating frozen with gusto. Very bold fish and always grazing.
This is what a very full copperband look like, kind of hard to picture but I don't think he can eat more.

I got this one a few years ago when he was the size of a quarter. Now he is about 4" long. I have always had at least one copperband in my tank and have been keeping them since the 70s.
Here is a video of him stealing new born brine shrimp from the mandarin feeder
