Crazy!

I just added my first coral to my tank two days ago along with some chaeto and a coral banded shrimp. My tank parameters were all fine the day before but the day after I added everything (today) my parameters are all crazy! My pH was at 8.4 and is not reading 7.4! if not LOWER! I'm getting trace amounts of ammonia (like .50) but I've NEVER had anything above 0 after my cycle.

The reason why this is an emergency is because my Clean-up crew of snails and crabs JUST came in 5 min ago and are floating in there bags in my tank! I can't add them with those crazy parameters! HELP!

Sorry guys, false alarm. I tested a third time and they seem to be much better. All is good. You can close the thread if you want to.

Tell us more please!

How long has the tank been up?

Do you have live rock? How long did you cure it for? In the tank or in another place?

Are you adding anything to it?

What else have you done to the tank recently?

What are your other parameters?

Give this a read and see if you can answer the questions you'll find there.

In the meantime it doesn't sound like you have much choice about the cleanup crew . I would slowly drip acclimate them and do whatever you need to be able to do some water changes over the next few days.

BTW, welcome to NJRC! ;D Be patient and you'll get through this. And when you have a mooment to take a breath, check out our newest forum Plans, Ideas & Reference Material for Starting a Reef Tank
