was wondering if any of you have hermits or snails, or anything else in the sump area? seems like there is always food being stored down there from the overflow. good idea???

Good idea. Thats where I keep most of my hermits and lots of snails.

I tossed (literally) 3 gigantic snails in my sump the other day after one of them knocked off one of my brand new frags. ::) They seem VERY happy, and they'll probably double in size AGAIN since the sump is full of yummy algae. :-[

I too have crabs and snails in the sump. Some hitchhiked in and others found there way in there somehow. It's a good thing. I also have Aiptasia in my sump/fuge. Anyone ever put any shrimp in there? I'd like to add a couple of Peppermints to hopefully rid the area of the problem.

We have a peppermint in our fuge. It did a good job of cleaning up the aptasia in it.

I have a green 3 1/2 inch mantis down in the sump. He gets to execute bad crabs that I ban out of the display.
I also keep snail and hermits to eat excess algae growth and other food bits that make it down there.

;D
