Dan's 150 Rebuild

I think I'm gonna go with the regular overflow set up, it looks quieter than a regular durso pipe, it has a siphon hole with a hose and everything so it may actually be quieter.

Do you guys think I'll need check valves or ball valves on any of this? I do plan on incorporating my manifold

No one? I just bought a bunch of plumbing supplies and 4 30g totes to store water and everything else, definitely gonna start the process tomorrow. Anyone have any tips?

Okay just got done painting the back of the tank

(Sorry, the pic is upside down for some reason lol) Also drew a lil schematic of my plumbing idea. I think this is the best I can do with incorporating my manifold and using what I have already. Gonna tee off the return to go to the manifold on the right and the return on the left. I'm gonna use flex PVC to go to each return to reduce the use of multiple elbows and 45's. Any critique?

Hopefully someone who has first-hand experience can comment, but running two one inch drains into a tee that remains 1 inch doesn't sound kosher. Will these durso style overflows still work properly?

EDIT TO ADD: Upon a second look at the picture, I'm not sure I'd tee off the one return before the manifold. I'd put the tee after the manifold.

Oh so you're saying if I just open up the pipe going into the sump then it should be okay? BUT do they make tees like that? Go from 1" to 2"?

Get a 2" T. Then use reducers to get it to 1". They also have a 2"x2"x1" as shown in Paul's drawing. Then you only need to reduce one side

Yeah I was gonna do the Herbie method but then decided not to. Dont have ANY experience with it and plus these stand pipes that came with it look better than the normal ones. Should be quiet enough.

Problem is, if that one inch gets even partial blocked you will have a flood.

Good point but there's not really much I can do, the bulkheads are 1" and I don't really have all that much room to be going full bore 2" ya know?

If you have two one inch drains, run one full siphon (underwater in the overflow about half way up), and the other dry just above the water line. They say the full siphons are very quiet and get great flow. aka Herbie The setup you have will eventually flood, just a matter of time.

I don't see how you can say it WILL flood Lol and what's "eventually" to you? I appreciate your input but I'm all set up to run it this way now. I have this day to do it and that's all unfortunately :/. My tank is drained and plumbing is ripped out. Lil too late to change my plans now lol
