Dan's 150 Rebuild

Yep. I have the DCS 150 on my 80g with 30g operational water volume sump, total 110 system. I only have 2 fish and the skimmer still pulls out Tar!

Nice. I just looked at the 170 on BRS, its sold out at the moment. But it says for heavy stocked tanks its only rated to 140g so that may not work. Now when you go to the next model, that's nulled right away bc its definitely too big for where I need it unfortunately, its about 3" taller than the one I have now which is a no go

Well I did my 25g water change tonight and re did the rock work, not sure if I really like it yet.. Opinions?

Ironically your islands are similar to mine, though you did one thing better than I did which was move them towards the back.
Two thoughts you have some nice tonga rock ...think is on the right side...saw it better in your old pics....try to make use of it.
Move the mountains as far back up against the overflows as possible and towards the back of the tank...I like the higher one on the left.

Third thing ...do what you like haha.

Yeah I was trying to incorporate those Tonga pieces like a bridge between the 2 islands but I can't get it the way I like it! Lol the island on the right is the one I just kinda threw together, it looks blah to me. I'll probably redo that side and move the Tonga around. I'm not so much going for the way the rocks look now but how my reef will look in a few years while also making plenty of hiding places for everyone

I used flat pieces sort of looked like star destroyer pieces of rock that I used for a bridge but my tank is only 4ft .... I tried to use one of the tonga pieces that way too now it is sticking up with zoas growing on it and I like it better. Maybe you can just have some flat pieces in the back center? Would be a cool place to put clams for instance.

I do have one big flat piece but its currently on the left side of the tank, maybe I can use that and then redo that spot with other rock.

Do u think it'd look better with a bridge at a high point or a midway point?
