Dead coral skeleton

I found a few 5x5 pieces of what looks to be favia coral or a brain coral from my grandparents basement, they are completely white and from what i remember that is what he took back from Hawaii when he fought at pearl harbor. The Skeletons are completely white and smooth, can i put them in my tank if i let them sit in salt water filled buckets for a few weeks?

Wash them real good with water and rinse or soak short time in RO or distilled water and you can throw them right in. The coral BONEs are inert but could have been exposed to impurities, cleaners ect, over time.
