difficult fish to keep.....

three part question-

what is the most difficult fish you have successfully keep?

what fish have you tried (maybe more than once) but had no luck with?

what 'difficult' fish would you like to try to keep in the future?

what fish have you tried (maybe more than once) but had no luck with? lionfish (fowlr), could not get it to eat anything but live food

what 'difficult' fish would you like to try to keep in the future? achilles tang, probably my favorite of all the tangs

All the ones that are still alive in the tank today.

Copperband. With the two that we tried, we had the lfs first feed them in the store first to see it they would eat…and they did. When we got them home, the only thing they would eat was black worms…and that was sporatic. No more Copperbands in this house.

None! I hate seeing fish die a slow death.

everything that redfishbluefish said applies to me as well.

From a newbie perspective, when I first started I had thought the firefish was difficult to keep given it's tendencies to carpet surf. I realize now with the right community mix and a bolt home for it - it's actually easy to care for.

I tried a copperband twice. :'( I was real close to getting a third when I was in Lancaster, but my wife just frowned and said "don't you remember how bad you felt?".

I'd like to try a mandarin in the future. It's been a year and I am hoping the tank has enough pods.

I forgot to mention:

I bought a beautiful leopard wrasse from AO and released it into the display without QT (as I assumed it would be happier in the sandbed. My yellow coris wrasse promptly went on a ****-bent witch hunt to beat the crap out of it. It was dead within 3 days thanks to being terrified of eating.

I hate that I didn't research the compatibility...it was doing it's thing and it's my own fault.

I guess that's one rub about this thread that should be mentioned - sometimes a fish isn't all that difficult - it's just that it doesn't work well in a mixed reef. I am sure if I re-started my tank and the first fish was a copperband -perhaps my results would be totally different.

I have to say I have not really had to much bad luck keeping fish. Had a few scares but somehow they ended up eating and doing good. My latest addition was my Achilles tang which at first wouldnt eat, but now is eating nori like a pig. He even eats brine and mysis now too. He is doing great!!!
