Dinoflagellates

Yeah I don't know. It actually has gotten worst because the filter sock I was using wasn't working as well as i though it should so I've been doing 3gal waterchanges every other day. Hopefully switching to GFO helps. If not maybe a monster waterchange is due. Somewhere around the 75% range.

Well I think I'm at the point of giving up. I'm just tired of getting it off of the corals every day. I think I'm just at the point where I'm going to just do w/c and feed and thats it. If things get choked out, so be it. It's just exhausting having to have my hands in the tank every day. I don't even get the chance to enjoy the tank because I'm just so disgusted by it. I don't know maybe I'm just ranting, but I am really annoyed with it.

I feel your pain. Try 5 days with your lights off and black out the tank entirely so it gets no light. I used trash bags to cover the tank. Make sure that you run carbon while you do this. Both times that ive used this approach it had worked. Shorter durations have not. Hang in there.

Kind of ran out of options. I guess I'll give this a try. Did you have to readjust everything to the led's again or not?

What kind of lighting are you using?

I guess I'll give it a try.

Im not sure if you need to reaclimate back to your original light levels but to play it safe I brought them back up over 5 to 7 days.

I guess I'll go a little heavier on the kalk in the TopOff but Raising my pH has been a ongoing struggle for me. I think I'm going to do the lights out, heavy carbon, followed by 2 big WC. Maybe even keep it to the blues only for a week or two. Hopefully this helps.

Dinos are really frustrating in that there is no one tried and true method on tackling them. I've tried peroxide, no water changes, raising the pH, siphoning and the only thing that proved to be successful for me was blacking out the tank for 5 days. It pissed off some of my corals but did less damaged than the dinos. Others have had luck with some of those other methods. Your almost forced to cycle through the various remedies to see what works in your tank. Hang in there. If you keep at it you will find a way to beat them.

Well there where only 2 casualties. A ywg and I think the blenny (can't find the blenny body). What's stupid is the ywg jumped in the overflow box for the skimmer when I unwrapped the skimmer tank. So far I still don't see any dino so I'm happy about that. I'm still going to stick with atinics only and dosing H2O2 for this week. After that I might just go to weekly dosing just as a precaution.
