So with all this new flake food I have, I thought I'd go back to setting up the autofeeder. The one issue with floating flakes is that too much go down the overflow before it could be eaten. I was aware that Petco had feeding rings on their website, so I stopped into the store. No rings. They called other Petco's, and still, no one carried them in their stores. So I came home and decided I'd try a DIY.
First shot was using 1/4 inch tubing (24 inches long), with a short piece of rigid RO tubing to connect the ends:
I didn't need a suction cup to hold it in place. I was able to entrap the ring behind the Loc-line.
It didn't work. One side slightly sank and the food just flowed out.
Next was 1/2 inch tubing using a short piece of dowel to hold it together. I lathered up the dowel with pool lube.
This work just fine...a simple fish feeding ring with two things I had laying around the house.
