If your looking for someone to drill your tank/sump. PM Ligershark (Tom) he drilled my 29g and he's got plenty of expirience.

My previous system was arranged just how John is describing, although I had all the drain water running into the refuge. It worked well and the ball valve enabled me to keep the right type of flow for growing macro. I had a lfs drill the refuge for me for $25. I had a 90 with a 40 gallon to the side in a stand I made for it

The only pumps I used was for the return to the display and for the skimmer, so I saved a little money on energy there. This system did require the extra room for the second stand though.
