Do we have any golfers in the club?

Anybody golf at all? If so, where do you like to play? Are there any "must play" courses in the area?

My roommate & I play at Hillsborough CC A LOT. we played cream ridge and gambler's ridge but being from Florida there's nothing like the major elevation changes that we get in Hillsborough.
We both maintain a handicap in the 15-18 range pretty much everywhere we go so we're not terrible but we're nowhere near good lol.

The county courses out here in monmouth county are very good. If you are going to play out near gamblers and cream ridge, you should go to charleston springs. They have a north course which is a links course and a south course which is just a regular style. Both are generally in very good shape and are fun to play.

If you come further out to monmouth county, Hominy Hill is considered like one of the top county courses out there.

I also like Lakewood country club (public/private), some really interesting fun holes there. They have a double dog leg par 5, a par four where your second shot you have to hit about 30 ft uphill, and then a par four that is a hard dogleg right and the entire right side of the fairway is a massive sand trap.

You have to get to the Crystal Springs courses up in north jersey. I've played four of them and they were all awesome. Black bear, crystal springs, wild turkey, and ballyowen. Also architects is also a very nice course. But if I have a choice I get to crystal springs as often as possible.

Love Crystal Springs!!! We go to the Grand cascades lodge every year, absolutely beautiful up there. Also a great resto up there called Latour. I am just a beginner golfer but starting to get the hang of things this year, with much more play!! Also belong to a club down in FLA that is one of the few ocean courses down there, called Hammock beach club. Mike knows all about it. LOL.

Absolutely amazing views there. Especially on the wild turkey and crystal springs courses. Wild turkey is course that can make anyone look good. Crystal springs is supposed to be one of the hardest courses in US. That made for a very angry day for me.

Got my first hole-in-one on July 15th (Cranbury Golf Club) then blew my knee out July 16th (yes the fish tank had something to do with it). Fun times...surgery set for September 5th. Do not see much golf in my future this year. Hopefully the "1st Annual NJ Reefers Golf Outing" is set for Spring 2013.

I am in for a golf outing. I play the Monmouth county course and Mercer county ones. They are all nice.
I also love the Colts Neck Golf Club.

I once hit Mini-Golf Balls off the deck while on a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship. Does this count?

P.S. - I also hit volley balls while playing mini golf.. off the cruise ship. .with the golf club...umm ya..

On second thought.. I guess that would just be considered mischievous vandalism...Don't ask me what happened to the roller blades or basketballs.

My backyard is adjacent to Hole #3 for Valley Brook (Blackwood, NJ) ... so if anyone ever plays there, stop in to say hello. I have an orange/cedar Deck so real easy to find.

Yes, we do collect a lot of golf balls in the yard. No, none have broken any of our windows yet (knocks on wood).

Remind me not to come hang out there! I was at a family picnic and a stray golf ball buzzed my ear!!! and hit the siding of the house in front of me. Scared the you know what out of me! I was very lucky and when I explained what had happened, the homeowner said "yeah, it happens all of the time! We go through 1 or 2 windows a year  and pointed to a couple of others that have as well! WHY would you live there???:nervous

Luckily, there's a thick patch of pine trees between the tee and our yard, so the buzzers rarely get thru. However, the sand trap on the opposite side of Hole #3 is why I collect all my golf balls... sometimes they tend to hit it too hard and it flys over the hole into our yard. Those are usually just pop-ups though and not very dangerous.
