Do you swap out your reflectors?

I am curious how may people swap out the reflectors on their lights as a means to get more out of their lights?

I imagine the value in doing this, depends on what light you currently have, and how good/bad the current reflector is.

URI VHO bulbs have the reflector built in so that would be "Yes I do" ;D

unless its an outdated, old model or its beat up i see no benefit in doing this? am i missing something? why not just give it a little clean up and replace the BULBS.

The only plus I can see in doing this besides the above is going from spider reflectors to lumenbrights or lumenmax. An upgrade yes, spider to spider no....

Yes was talking about lumenarc or lumenbright for MH

Or Icecap, Aquatinics for T5

Yes, I swapped out my MH pendants from Aquamedics to Lumenmax. I needed the wider light spread to accommodate my new tank.

the new reflectors that have come out lately are well worth the upgrade.. marc Levenson showed the Par gain from spider reflectors to Lumenbrights. if you can reflect more light into the tank for better results it is well worth the money

If you are going from parabolic to individual reflectors on T5s, then it is well worth it. Going individual to individual sees diminished returns imo without some damage to the origionals.
